Unveiling the Secrets of Immersive Experiences
This talk will highlight the creation of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which Disney developed simultaneously in both California and Florida. Disney brought the Millennium Falcon to life as a signature attraction in both parks, and Ricky was directly involved in inspecting its massive components while they were being fabricated in Hong Kong and Zhuhai, China. His firsthand stories reveal how imagination, engineering, and NDT came together to bring this iconic ship to life.

“When I was working on that, I was [in China] for a couple of weeks working on Millennium Falcons—two of them, one for each park,” he said.

“And the way it all happens, it’s a pretty concerted effort in terms of logistics when you’re doing two parks at the same time. We were based out of LA, but we were actually holding weekly team meetings with the people in Orlando, comparing notes and coordinating with different fabricators.”

In-Person Exploration at Disney's Hollywood Studios
After the presentation, step into the world you've just learned about. Visit Disney's Hollywood Studios and ride the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction—an interactive adventure set amidst the sights and sounds of a galaxy far, far away.
