Compete in ASNT's
First Annual UT Competition
The ASNT UT Competition will take place on Tuesday, 1 November and will assess general UT skills for two sets of competitors. Flight one is for nondestructive testing (NDT) students or recent graduates of NDT training institutions, and flight two is for NDT UT Level II's.
Each flight is limited to 24 competitors. The application submission deadline is 15 September 2022.
A $500.00 cash prize will be awarded to the winner of each flight. After your competition application is approved, you will be sent a link to complete a conference registration. If you are only attending the annual conference to participate in the UT competition, you will be provided a complimentary exhibit hall pass. You can also sign up to volunteer at the conference and receive a complimentary conference registration.
Flight 1 is open to current or recently graduated NDT trade school, technical school, college, or university students.
The intent is that the candidates have completed the school’s UT coursework and are proficient in ultrasonic straight beam corrosion scanning and shear wave scanning for weld defects. Flight 1 competitors are not certified Level II technicians.
Flight 2 is open to current NDT Level II’s from any NDT service provider.
The candidate should have a UT level II certification to SNT-TC-1A/CP-189 or ISO 9712 and at least five (5) years of experience in ultrasonic straight beam corrosion scanning and shear wave scanning for weld defects. Flight 2 competitors are not Level III certified professionals.
