Dr. Ryan Scott
Postdoctoral Fellow
The Institute For Diagnostic Imaging Research

Deep Learning for Weld Measurement Extraction via Ultrasonic Monitoring of the Resistance Spot Welding Process

Paper or Abstract

Biography

Dr. Ryan Scott is a researcher at the Institute for Diagnostic Imaging Research at the University of Windsor and Artificial Intelligence leader at Tessonics in Windsor, Canada. Ryan's current work involves R&D of artificial intelligence for ultrasound-based inspections. Ryan is the technical leader of several projects surrounding AI for the real-time characterization of ultrasonic signatures from resistance spot welding, for both quality control as well as adaptive welding applications. Ryan has also been involved in the development of AI solutions for other applications such as polyethylene pipe and laser braze NDE, as well as ultrasonic evaluation of traumatic brain injuries.
Himal Sapkota
Southern Illinois University Carbondale

A Study of the Overhang Effects of Additively Manufactured Parts and Prediction of Geometric Deviation using Conditional Generative Adversarial Networks

Paper or Abstract

Biography

Himal Sapkota is an aspiring graduate student at the School of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Materials Engineering at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. His research interests are centered around non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE), Additive Manufacturing (AM), defect detection and prediction, as well as the application of machine learning and deep learning techniques to these areas. Currently, he is working on the research of predicting geometric deviation in additively manufactured parts.

Dr. Abhishek Shukla
Technical Lead - Data Analysis
UTEX Scientific

Neural Nets for Performing Specific Tasks in the Analysis of Ultrasonic Data

Paper or Abstract

Biography

Abhishek Shukla is the Technical Lead (Data Analysis) at UTEX Scientific, based in Mississauga, Ontario Canada. Prior to his current role, Abhishek was the senior NDE applications developer, for automated inspection systems in nuclear power, aerospace and space vehicle manufacturing. His Ph.D. work explored the use of ultrasound for monitoring dynamic suspensions in real time. Abhishek’s more recent work has focused on advancing the use of robotics and automation for NDE and developing IW Evaluate – A general purpose UT analysis application that works with multiple data file formats and offers cross-platform reporting tools for composite and metal inspections.
