Biography

Rich Wurzbach has over 35 years of experience in the development of Condition-Based Maintenance programs and is the Inventor of the Grease Thief sampling technology. His past experience includes working at the Three Mile Island and Peach Bottom Nuclear Plants and for NAVSEALOGCEN equipment reliability programs at Naval Training Centers and at the National Institutes of Health. He works as a tribology consultant for major companies including Merck Pharmaceuticals and the US Army. He has served on two research teams in Denmark studying lubrication and sampling practices for off-shore wind turbine components. Rich holds five patents on his designs for lubricant sampling and analysis devices, and serves as an expert witness in the US and Canada. He has authored seven industry guides on topics ranging from Artificial Intelligence “Expert Systems” to Power Plant-scale battery systems maintenance. He has presented and published over 100 scientific papers and served as an Editor of scientific journals for the International Society of Optics and Photonics. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Millersville University, and since 1992 has operated a farm in Brogue, York County with his family, raising beef cattle and growing hay. He is the President of MRG Labs and the Director of the Tribology Research Center at Knowledge Park on the campus of York College of Pennsylvania.
