Application of Total Focusing Method (TFM) Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing Technology in Automated Flaw Detection for Bar Products

Presentation Description

This paper investigates the Total Focusing Method (TFM) phased array ultrasonic testing technology to demonstrate its feasibility for application in industrial production. A comprehensive set of equipment has been designed and developed for the automatic non-destructive testing of bar products, aimed at testing and optimizing the technical performance. Through repeated testing of the equipment's performance with longitudinal waves (L0) and shear waves (L+/L-), the theoretical performance characteristics established in the laboratory have been refined, and its adaptability to the complex industrial environment has been enhanced. Consequently, the equipment is now fully capable of meeting and excelling in the demands of industrial production, addressing the bottleneck in ultrasonic flaw detection efficiency within the bar flaw detection production line, and aligning with the steel industry's escalating requirements for bar flaw detection throughput.
