Ultrasonics in the Danger Zone

Presentation Description

Corrosion mapping is a critical inspection for high-energy piping and vessels, like those found in downstream facilities, which are at risk of damage mechanisms like sulfidation which occurs at temperatures above 500 °F.
Ionix’ HotSense range of UT transducers, when paired with TPAC pilot and array products, enables on-stream, continuous UT from -320 to +660 °F to deliver automated corrosion mapping of assets at risk of sulfidation whilst in service.

Biography

Tim Stevenson is CEO and co-founder of Ionix, which has grown to become the leader in ultrasonic for extreme environments. With a Ph.D in Materials Science, Tim has led the pioneering team at Ionix, developing and manufacturing the HotSense ultrasonic sensor platform technology for extreme environment applications, built on the unique high-performance HPZ piezoelectric materials. Now widely adopted globally, in a variety of applications including NDT, Tim has earned accolades such as the British Institute of NDT COMADIT and Anne Birt awards in recognition as of his contribution to the field of condition monitoring and NDT respectively. A Fellow of the Institute of Materials (IOM3), Tim also serves on the British Institute of NDT’s technical committee, and contributes to standards and recommended practices for API, IEC and ISO - driving innovation across energy, aerospace, and industrial sectors.
