Innovative Nondestructive Testing for Reliable Wastewater Infrastructure Management
Presentation Description
Wastewater facilities are critical infrastructure that require regular maintenance and assessment to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Nondestructive testing (NDT) methods offer a reliable and cost-effective approach to evaluate the condition of these assets without causing damage. Wastewater is often an overlooked utility, yet its failure can have significant consequences for communities and daily life. While not typically associated with fatal outcomes, disruptions in wastewater management can lead to severe public health issues, environmental damage, and substantial inconvenience for residents. This abstract will introduce some of the nondestructive testing methods utilized in the wastewater industry, highlight unique challenges associated with wastewater assessments, and provide examples of how specific methods were used to overcome these challenges.
