The maintenance of rolling stock is boosted via new NDT sensors combined with robotic automation.:
High throughput saves time, and money.
High customer demands are fulfilled.
System copes with large variety of rail wheels and boundary conditions for example on wheel sets.
Reliability is proven high.
Highest safety level, all UT probes ensure coupling control, which is not for granted for many rail wheel types using alternative solutions.
Operator workflow guidance ensures proper results including automated reports.
Assisted Defect Recognition demonstrate what software intelligence can already do today.
The discussed approach has many advantages, which can be transferred to other NDT solutions. In this sense, the demonstrated industrial implementation serves as an example for a much larger area of industrial solutions.

Biography

Frank is a physicist. In over 30 years in research and industry he held various management positions in technology focused companies from start-up support, mid-sized to large company. His working areas are ultrasound and automized testing machines for non-destructive testing. Frank exploits his broad background, coming from applied optics, laser physics, image processing, automated optical inspection systems including scouting for talents.
