NDT, in the VR World

Presentation Description

Please review my LinkedIn profile to see what I can do with VR/MR, and NDT training. My goal is this,

Im on stage wearing the VR headset and its live streaming onto the projector (so no slides, just mirroring what I'm seeing). In Mixed Reality (MR), I can view everyone and everything, but I can throw in my 3D models and real copies of NDE techniques.

I place a small process unit in the room, (in VR/MR) where i can see it, and everyone else can view it behind me. I can move an exchanger, to better position it with the environment. It has piping components as well. I remove the exchanger head, take out the exchanger bundle, and perform a virtual PT test on the tube sheet (I have a demo of VR PT on my LinkedIn) and we find cracking. We need to PMI the tube welds and the tubesheet with my VR-PMI demo to show the alloy and weld dilution (both readings would be different also on LinkedIn). Piping coming off of the pressure vessel can be scanned by QSAs "Real Time Radiography" for Corrosion Under Insulation (API 571 3.22), then take out QSAs Gamma camera, place Comet Xray panels behind it and shoot a profile shot to also see internal corrosion as well as the external we found with RTR. We go to the exchanger shell and do UT-Thickness to gather readings to assist with an API inspection.

This whole thing can be about 15-30mins long, have a real process unit in the room with us, disassemble and show how the process works on the equipment, and show UT-T, PT, VT, RT, RTR, PMI, methods- on when to use them, how to use them, and find multiple damages with all of them. Equipment in the VR demo will be other vendors equipment that will be on the show room floor.

This can show the basics of a few methods, show how they can be a one for one, and spark interests on where training IS going.

Short Course Description

Biography

Both of my parents were Level 2s, and at 18 they sent me to 40-hour Radiation Safety Training and offered me a job. I went on to earn multiple Level 2s, AWS-CWI, API 510 & 570. I love to teach, but as a visual learner and not a natural presenter, I found my passion in app and VR development. Not every NDE tech or inspector gets to see it all—but through VR, we can capture real-world knowledge and bring those experiences directly to you.
