Guided wave testing method has been introduced and used from 1999 for field testing in facility and plant. However, many UT inspectors do not believe the guided wave testing result. The main reason is due to poor guided wave testing report that inspectors delivered to clients. This presentation will list the problem and give solution. The attendees learn the clear understanding why the guided wave testing report has problem and how to fix this problem.
Biography
Over the last 35 years, Dr. Kim has been researching and developing for nondestructive evaluation (NDE) of materials and structures. He has granted 14 US patents about guided wave testing application using MsS technology to various structures. He has presented and published 40 scientific papers on various NDE-related topics. He is MsS Level 3 in Guided Wave Testing, ASNT NDT Level 3 in UT and ET, awarded 2006 R&D 100 with HX probe, awarded 2011 ASNT outstanding paper award with “Improving Guided Wave Testing of Pipelines with Mechanical Attachments,” and editorial advisory board member of journal in www.net.net.
